Applying CERTLabel address on your products

When preparing your product artwork, please ensure you include the relevant CERTLabel address as the Authorised Representative for all export markets. This should be done in addition to your own due diligence checks.

As a rule, wherever your or the manufacturer’s address appears (including on shipping paperwork), you must also display the Authorised Representative address. For any shipping or customs queries, liaise with your Importer or Importer of Record (IOR).

Food and Supplements

For food and supplements, CERTLabel acts as an Authorised Representative to fulfil Food Business Operator (FBO) requirements, but does not act as a full importer or consignee. The term “Authorised Representative” should be used clearly for market authorities, indicating legal representation only—CERTLabel does not handle the product or participate in distribution of food products. You are the official Importer of the product and maintain ownership and control distribution of the product. So you are ‘sub-letting’ functions of the Importer role to 3rd parties e.g. financial/tax, legal representation… to fulfil your legal obligations as the Importer (also referred to as Full Importer).

Cosmetics

For cosmetics, the legal term is “Responsible Person.” The Responsible Person must appear on product labelling, as there are extra registration requirements that the Authorised Representative must ensure are met.

All Other Products

All other supported products must be labelled with “Authorised Representative.”

Note: The address itself should not be translated, just the identification header needs to be in the local market language.

When Space is Limited

If space does not permit the full heading (such as “EU Authorised Representative” with its translation), you may shorten this to just “EU” or “UK” with the relevant address. However, the manufacturer’s address (with “Manufacturer” in all relevant languages) must still appear:

Important Notes

  • The manufacturer’s address must always be included alongside the Authorised Representative address. Listing only the Authorised Representative gives the impression that CERTLabel is the consignee and legally fully responsible for the product.
  • If packaging is too small, the full Authorised Representative address (not just a website) must still appear. If it is not physically possible, include the address in the accompanying documentation—but only after exhausting ways of fitting it on the packaging itself.
  • Marketing or branding information must not take precedence over legal address requirements.
  • If you need to abbreviate headings or addresses due to space constraints, you must seek approval from your CERT regulatory expert, as unnecessary amendments or ‘branding’ may be challenged by authorities and risk non-compliance.
