Authorised Representation Introduction
Authorised Representation for EU and UK market access

Do I need representation?

All products being sold in the EU or UK markets require market representation, with a few exceptions*.
CERT can act as your legal representative in all 27 EU markets and the UK market, with established businesses in Germany & the UK, helping you meet market obligations, maintain documentation, and respond to authority requests.
We support brands, manufacturers, and importers/exporters with Authorised Representation, Responsible Person, Food Business Operator, and related market representation services across EU and UK markets.

*Exceptions are the Royal family, military, or nuclear products (recital (22) of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020).

Different sectors use different terms, but the core purpose is similar: to ensure there is a legally recognised contact established in the relevant market who can support compliance and regulatory communication. The current page already lists these terms, but they would be much clearer if presented in a structured comparison instead of inline bullets.

TermTypical use Explanation
ARGeneral market representation termA broad term for an Authorised Representative established in the relevant market.

EUAR / UKARAlternative abbreviationsAlternative shorthand terms sometimes used in sector-specific or commercial contexts.

What's the cost?

Flexible pricing, built around your launch. We don’t do large blanket or bulk pricing, as this is not advantageous to you. Instead, we tailor the service to your requirement and confirm the complete price from the onset.

Only pay for what your products need – and when they need it.

Representation support can be more affordable than you may expect, with some projects working out at less than £1 per day per SKU (stock keeping unit) depending on the product, scope, and market requirements. Final pricing depends on the category, documentation needs, and whether support is needed for the EU, UK, or both.

Prices depend on the type of product, the level of support required, and the markets involved.

Authorised Representation Price Example

Example Annual Price per SKU based on support for 10 SKUs:

Single Main Market from:

1st year = £356.40 *

3 Main Markets from:

1st year = £374.40 *

£124.80 per market

7 Main Markets from:

1st year = £480.40 *

£68.62 per market

2nd Year onwards = Flat fee per SKU of £266.40 per annum. **

Price per SKU includes all markets and will reduce further if more SKUs require representation.

£356.40 =
less than £1 a day!

** NOTE: 1st year includes a single-charge for product review to ensure market compliance. Provided there is no change to the product, this charge is not repeated for subsequent service provided.
We support the following currencies: GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, CAD, NZD, SGD, TRY, AED, ZAR

* Upfront discounts apply to the agreed representation period and are reflected in the tailored quotation. Pricing depends on product complexity, market scope, SKU volume and the support required. Representation must remain in place while the product continues to be offered for sale in the relevant market.

Product review prices are discounted based on Product Complexity, volume of SKUs and quantity of markets requiring representation. If you have set product SKUs sold all year-round, you can also make additional savings by paying for the service upfront - see Pricing Mechanics below. Otherwise, the service is charged at the end of each month of service and can be stopped with 30 days’ notice or once the product is no longer on the market. This gives you maximum flexibility without tying you into long-term contracts. Feel free to register your project interest and let’s get your product on the market!

Stage 1 — Regulatory assessment

A single charge covers the regulatory assessment and market confirmation required before launch. Your tailored quotation reflects the product’s complexity, the markets involved and the number of products being assessed.

Where products or markets share similar regulatory requirements, we recognise those efficiencies in our pricing. Provided the product and agreed scope remain unchanged, this assessment charge is not repeated.

Stage 2 — Ongoing representation

The representation charge starts only when your product is introduced to the market. Choose monthly billing in arrears for maximum flexibility, with volume savings* available when several SKUs require representation.

Monthly representation can be stopped with 30 days’ notice once the product is no longer offered for sale in the relevant market – whichever is the latter. This makes the service particularly cost-effective for new launches, market trials and seasonal product ranges.

Save by paying upfront

Prefer to plan ahead? Choose an upfront payment option and benefit from additional savings:

  • Monthly in arrears — maximum flexibility
  • Quarterly upfront — additional 5% payment discount = £180 saving across 10 SKUs
  • Six-monthly upfront — additional 10% payment discount = £360 saving across 10 SKUs
  • Annually upfront — additional 15% payment discount = £540 saving across 10 SKUs

The longer the upfront period, the greater the saving. Your quotation will show the exact cost for each option, allowing you to choose the right balance between flexibility and value.

Every project is different. Tell us about your products, markets and launch plans, and we’ll prepare a clear, tailored quotation.

* Stage 2 volume savings are accumulative and based on quantity of product lines/SKUs. The more product lines you have, the average price per SKU reduces accordingly. The discounting is ‘front-loaded’ to help keep costs down. This is particularly helpful if you are just breaking into the export market:

Product 110% discount
Product 25% discount
Product 33% discount
Product 42% discount
Product 5 and subsequent products1% discount

The 1% discount applies for the first 40 product lines after which a fixed cost per product line is provided.

Authorised Representation Introduction

Why this matters now

If you’re planning to export food, supplements, cosmetics, pet products, or other consumer goods to the EU or UK, you cannot legally place them on the market without an official representative. Without one, products risk rejection, costly delays at customs, or even withdrawal from sale.

Make sure you don’t fall behind competitors who are already market-ready with secure AR coverage.
